Happy birthday to your pappa

Dear Dhaani,

It's you pappa s birthday today. And however much we adults deny it, we still have a special link to this day. There are various emotions which get to the surface especially on this day. I thought today is a good day to add one more post to this blog of ours. So let me tell you more about the emotions which i was referring to in the last paragraph. Today, the following emotions are engulfing me which are making this day special for me.

1. Immense gratitude to my parents to bring me on this earth, to be able to have a "birth"  thus a "birthday". You see, it would all have had no meaning for me otherwise. So, i am feeling a special gratitude to my parents to bring me here, to raise me up and to always have my back.

2.  Happiness, random happiness - I have been smiling since the morning for no rhyme or reason. I have been meeting people in the office, getting their wishes, giving them sweets,  all with my broadest smile. I think i am just happy looking at the number of years that i have  spend on this earth.

3. Warmth - I have received countless messages since the morning. Some calls, some facebook messages, many WhatsApp messages,  many in-person messages. Some of them from such unexpected of sources. From long lost friends, all x bosses,  from very senior office HOD, from my office tea wala, from " could have been" friends. This is a testimony that there is so much love and warmth in this world.  I feel very protected and comfortable to receive blessings

Having the opportunity to be born is an amazing thing. So my message for you on my birthday is this - Love us, love your friends, your would be beloved, love everyone - but before us all , love yourself.  Give all you have got to yourself, and only after that - to anyone else.You have brought so much light to the world. All of us , who have the chance to have birthdays have.

Happy birthday to your papa my love.

To my first two teachers - my Parents

My mother and father were my first teachers. I am grateful to be born to such kind, simple and empowering souls. They brought us 5 kids with aplomb in the limited resources we had. They taught us simple but powerful lessons in life through their actions. Today on teachers day, I am reminded of their main mantras which I will try to pass on to Dhaani. 1. Never Cheat or use unfair means -  It sounds so obvious thing to do. Everyone would teach their children not to cheat and use unfair means. But what is important is to practice and not to preach. During my childhood, I saw my parents practicing it. It only helped that we saw some others practicing the opposite. My father was a simpleton who never used unfair means in life. That other people and his close relatives used unfair means to take benefit out of him, is another story. He never reciprocated. We as children at times questions this one-sided goodness. The two worlds

Dear Dhaani, You are 2 years and 7 months today. Come next year, and you will start attending school. And thus will begin a new chapter in your life. The thing that i am going to write to you today about will not make much sense to you  in your initial years at the school, but i think it is important for you to understand this as you grow up. You my dear, like every other child on this planet are blessed to be born with an inherent connection with your inner self. This connection is what makes a child so special and innocent. This is what we adults miss in ourselves and other adults when we see you children being so pious and pristine. I believe there is one prime reason for this.
