Keep being awesome - To the amazing women out there
Okay, this one is not only from Pappa to Dhaani. This one is from me to Dhaani and her amazing gender. To the womenkind. They are simply super amazing. We all know it right. It normally does not require a womens day for me to shout it out but gurls - keep being awesome. Let me elaborate.
Dadi - Dadi was my childhood s most precious treasure. I remember waiting excitedly for the nights to hear her bedtime stories. She had 8-9 of them ( marwari folklore) which she told to us kids in random order. I remember some of these by heart and will pass the baton to Dhaani soon. Daadi was also the savior for me whenever i did some mischief. She most definitely spoilt and pampered us but what is childhood without the pampering on grandparents. Daadi, i miss you.
Maa - My mother strongest. Where to start and where to end. Maa has given me the wings, emotionally, spiritually and in every other way. Its because of her will and power that enabled me to think outside the boundaries of my small town ( ps: i love small towns) Its because of her friendship that i could question things from the very beginning and develop an opinion of my own. Its because of her unflinching faith that i could turn one of my biggest failures into a success. I said it right, there is no end to what my mother has done for me.
Himani - My lady, my soulmate. I met her on one of my lucky days in 2005. I was in 3rd-year undergraduate and was lost amidst the normal distractions in that age. She gave me the direction i was seeking. It is really difficult to explain but she actually helped me meet myself. What i wanted, what i sought became apparent to me after we fell in love. She is one passionate, independent women. In a typical engineering college, boys tent to develop a very narrow perspective of women. Himani helped me understand women and their perspective...and i am still learning. What more important however is, she taught me how to fall in love and be in love.....and i am still learning :)
My Sisters - 2 amazing women, who always treated me more like son than a younger brother. Whenever in a crisis, i just had to call them. Rather, i did not have to call them, as they themselves would somehow know that i am in crisis, and call me to ensure i am fine. They cared and protected me so effortlessly that i never realized that they did so much. Having an elder sister is a blessing, and i count my blessings twice.
Dhaani - Our baby, Our miracle. They say daughters are special. They could not have been more correct. For you are specialofabulously special. You have allowed me to explore a different side of me altogether. Pappa loves you so so so much.
My friends - I have been fortunate to have the friendship of amazing women in my different educational institutes. They have been great competitors, friends and people. They have always lent a patient ear to my random philosophies and also helped me see a very important perspective to all things in life - a women s point of view. If not for them, i would have been a very one-dimensional person. They also showed me the sheer grit and talent that women are made up of. I was almost always surprised to see them multitasking. And of course, they made the stay in those educational institutes very pleasing. I am so glad i never studied in an all-boys school/college. This list would be incomplete without the significant others of my male friends and female friends of my significant other. Ladies, thankyou very much. You have been kind, appreciative and given us company in so many of our in house and out of house celebrations.
My collegues @work - My first boss was a women. Its been 11 years for me in the corporate world, and in almost all my companies, i have learnt so much from my female seniors and colleagues. I also have seen how our whole system and corporate world has been structured to suit us men more. And in this structure, women have been defining and redefining new norms. Thank you my awesome women at work.
And finally, all the kind women who have helped me get a wholesome and delicious meal and a clean home. To all my househelps and cooks- aunties and didis , who have taken care of our home and kitchens.
Happy women s day women. You have been so so awesome. Keep being so.
