I will always sing you songs

Dear Dhaani, there are only a  few things your Pappa is good at , singing is one of them.  Singing has been a hobby close to my heart for as long as I remember. There is a complimentary skill which adds to it, that I remember lyrics of most of the old songs better than I remember any of my b.arch or mba lessons.

So , this promise is an easy one. And also one which is a way of ensuring I always have an audience for my singing. Thank God you like my singing, or at least I think so. In a way, it's a two-way promise then. I will always sing you songs and you will always listen to them. Okay?
I started singing to you when you were inside your mumma s womb. They say it's good to communicate to your child while she is still enjoying her swim in the amniotic fluid. It was one of my ways of communicating with you. Some songs which you liked then were:

1. Chanda hai tu , Mera Suraj hai tu
2. Lakdi ki kaathi, kaathi pe ghoda
3. Mere Ghar aayi ek nanhi pari

The third song in the list above holds a special place in our lives. Let me tell you the story behind it. Since the time your mother was admitted in hospital for your delivery, there was always someone/ some anxiety which kept us occupied. We did not get a chance to celebrate your arrival to our heart's content. After your arrival, you and Himani were discharged after 2 days when we took you home. That day the 3 of us got our celebration time. This song was playing in the background and suddenly both mine and himani s eyes were full with tears of unbridled joy. We hugged each other in the utter amazement of our miracle which we created  - that is you. Yes, this celebration was the most unique we had in our entire lives.

You have taken fondly to the music of all kinds. Today, when you are 22 months; you sing at least 4 rhymes in your sweet baritone. Twinkle Twinkle, Ringa Ringa, Johny Johny and Machli jal ki raani hai are your favorites. I remember singing these to you since you were 6 moths old. You dance to the fast bollywood numbers and also hum with the slower ones. You also like bhajans and thus i must say you have got a varied taste in music.

I will sing you songs- ever. Mostly of love and celebrations, but sometimes also of slowing down. Mostly of victories and happiness, but sometimes also of sadness and defeats. These songs are just another way to place a little bit of me, in you- my precious.
